Care Can’t Wait is a coalition fighting for policies that lower costs for families and value care as one of the most fundamental parts of our lives. We believe everyone deserves access to paid leave and quality, affordable care across their lifetime, and that care workers deserve living wages and respect. Together, we’re working to secure historic federal investments in our care systems.
Together, We're Fighting for
Aging and Disability Care
Most people want to age or receive disability care in their own homes, but millions can’t access or afford the support they need. We’re working to strengthen Medicaid home and community-based services, expand Medicare to cover home care, ensure care workers earn living wages with benefits, and support the 105 million family caregivers providing unpaid care to loved ones.
Child Care
Child care costs more than college tuition in most states, forcing families to make impossible choices. We’re advocating for a system where no family pays more than 7 percent of their income for quality child care, early educators earn wages that reflect the value of their work, and every community has a thriving care workforce—especially the 51% of American families who are struggling to find child care options where they live.
Paid Family and Medical Leave
The U.S. is one of the only countries without national paid leave, leaving millions forced to choose between their health, family needs, and financial stability. We’re pushing for a comprehensive program that supports our ability to take time away from work to welcome a new child, care for a family member, or heal from serious illness, without having to worry about losing our income.
